Ebook Cover Redesign - They're Having a Laugh

I always want to redesign ebook covers.

I can't help but scroll through Lousy Book Covers and dream up how I would design all the book covers differently. There's so much potential there for improvement! Sometimes, I can't help but try my hand at redesigning them. I love following inspiration and creating designs I never imagined. Watch my design process below and see my latest ebook cover redesign.

I try to keep these key ideas in mind when I choose stock photography, typefaces, and mood.

Note: I only use free stock photography from Pexels. I'm not associated with them in any way, I just enjoy their free stock photo options. 

Note 2: I consider these covers "concept work". So you will see below that I've used the American flag. If these were for the actual book, I'd replace all the American flags with British to follow the theme of the book. It was WAY easier to find higher quality stock photos with the American flag than the British so that's why I used the images below with American flags.

This was my first idea and my favorite. Bob has a second book with a similar title. It looks to be a continuation of this book, so it would be easy to recolor this and use the same layout with the updated title and you would easily know they are from the same series.

Not the most effective design, lol! Some ideas you just have to get out of your system so you can move on.

This one was fun to make. I think the face overlay is funny. It could turn people off as it could look mocking.

This is more of a phoning-it-in version. Same type lock up but having the type nose dive into a political mug.
